How to style a crop top when you don’t have a flat tummy- Fall Fashion 2016

This is my first ever fashion post. I am not a fashion designer nor am I a fashion expert. I’m just someone who likes to look good.

After my pregnancy, I gained a lot of weight and for a really long time I was conscious of how I look, how people perceived me and so on and so forth . It has taken me a long to finally accept that happiness lies within.

I have seen skinny super model size figured women wearing certain types of clothes and Ive often found myself wondering how would i look in it.  For the longest time I only wore jeans and loose tops that hid my post pregnancy belly.

But that has changed  and I’m glad that it did. This blog post will be on how to style short cropped tops for someone who doesn’t have a flat tummy.

The idea behind this is that I wanted to draw attention away from my stomach, that is why Ive worn bright yellow high heels. To match the shoes, Ive also worn a similar toned sun glasses and I’m carrying a similar colored clutch. A pop of color will always draw attention to it

The top that I’m wearing a black and white horizontal stripped top and Ive paired that with a black vest. The cropped top has a woolen feel, but its not wool. You can skin the vest if you dont have stretch marks. Thanks to my pregnancy, I have loads of them .

Banish Acne Naturally
Banish Acne Naturally

We all have come across so many different posts that say Banish Acne Naturally. Haven’t we ?

We often worry about acne, but we tend to forget the main reason why we get acne . Acne can be caused due to various factors.

The first step to fighting acne would be to analyse the cause of acne.

It starts when greasy secretions from the skin’s sebaceous glands (oil glands) plug the tiny openings for hair follicles (plugged pores). If the openings are large, the clogs take the form of blackheads: small, flat spots with dark centers. If the openings stay small, the clogs take the form of whiteheads: small, flesh-colored bumps. Both types of plugged pores can develop into swollen, tender inflammations or pimples or deeper lumps or nodules. Nodules associated with severe cases of acne (cystic acne) are firm swellings below the skin’s surface that become inflamed, tender, and sometimes infected.

There are three main factors that cause acne

Three factors contribute to the formation of acne:

  • Overproduction of oil (sebum)
  • Irregular shedding of dead skin cells resulting in irritation of the hair follicles of your skin
  • Buildup of bacteria

Factors that may worsen acne

These factors can trigger or aggravate an existing case of acne:

  • Hormones. Androgens are hormones that increase in boys and girls during puberty and cause the sebaceous glands to enlarge and make more sebum. Hormonal changes related to pregnancy and the use of oral contraceptives can also affect sebum production.
  • Certain medications. Drugs containing corticosteroids, androgens or lithium are known to cause acne.
  • Diet. Studies indicate that certain dietary factors, including dairy products and carbohydrate-rich foods — such as bread, bagels and chips, which increase blood sugar — may trigger acne.

Acne myths

Contrary to what some people think, these factors have little effect on acne:

  • Greasy foods and chocolate have proved to have little to no effect on the development or course of acne.
  • Dirty skin. Acne isn’t caused by dirt. In fact, scrubbing the skin too hard or cleansing with harsh soaps or chemicals irritates the skin and can make acne worse. Simple cleansing of the skin to remove excess oil and dead skin cells is all that’s required

Here are some Home Remedies that help fight Acne.

Mustard seed or Mustard

Mustard is high in natural salsylic acid

Bizzare beauty tips that work

Nothing can beat the pleasure we get when we discover a weird beauty trick that works.

Here are such Bizzare beauty tricks that have worked in the past

  • Condition your damaged hair with Mayonnaise.  Get the mayonnaise out of your fridge and into your hair for about 20 minutes. For added benefits, use your blow dryer so the heat will activate the mayonnaise even more.
  • Whether you’re always getting blisters or you’ve got a new pair of shoes to break in, rubbing a little bit of Vaseline on areas that tend to get blisters will reduce any friction so your feet won’t be cut up by the end of the night.
  • Glitter nail polish is a nightmare to remove, but if you soak a cotton ball in nail polish remover, place on your nail, wrap your finger tip in tin foil and let it sit for five minutes, the glitter will slide right off.
  • In a rush after an at-home manicure? Submerge your fingers in cold water for three minutes and your nails will come out dry.
  • Slather on the petroleum jelly, and put on socks before bed to dissolve tough calluses overnight.
  • If you turn red and stay that way after exercising (like seriously red for hours, even though you’re healthy and hydrated), take an antihistamine like Benadryl when you leave the gym to reduce redness.
  • To cure a sunburn, take a warm bath in VERY strong black tea — the tannins take away the sting and swelling
  • Soak your locks in Olive oil for 10 minutes before you head in for a shower for faster hair growth

Soon after Kim Kardashian got a Vampire Facelift, everyone seemed to want it.  But what exactly is a Vampire Facelift ?

Vampire Facelift is a name for a non-surgical cosmetic procedure involving the reinjection of a gel-like substance—platelet rich fibrin matrix (PRFM)—derived from a patient’s own blood back into multiple areas of the skin of their face in an effort to treat wrinkles and “rejuvenate” the face.

The result of the Vampire Facelift is a thicker collagen that fills out the face; expunging wrinkles and reducing thinness

Kim K Vampire Facial

This type of procedure can be a little misleading. Here are some Pros and Cons of such facial.

Pros Cons
It is not life threatening. Upon completing the preparation process, the surgeon will get rid of the red blood cells and inject the remaining yellow serum along with the platelets. New blood vessels will be created, which is good for the skin. Cosmetic surgery, when necessary can get rid of excess skin and create a whole younger YOU.
You will have healthier skin and eliminate much of your facial blemishes A surgical facelift can be a contributory factor to a face flop as the skin expands snugly against the bone, making the individual appear skeletonized.
Since you are using your own tissue, you eliminate the risk of an allergic reaction

Here are some Before and After pictures which have been successful

Whether or not to get a procedure like this done, depends on solely on the individual . But before one decides anything, they should always consider the price they might have to pay.

How to get rid of pregnancy stretch marks - Samiksha Danish

After pregnancy many women battle with post pregnancy stretch marks. Let us understand what causes stretch marks and how it can be dealt with.

What causes Stretch Marks?

Stretch marks happen when your body grows faster than your skin can keep up with. This causes the elastic fibers just under the surface of the skin to break, resulting in stretch marks.

Who Gets Stretch Marks?

If you have them, you’re in good company. About 90% of women will get them sometime after their sixth or seventh month of pregnancy.

If your mother had stretch marks, then you’re more likely to have them too, since genetics plays a role.

If you have a lighter complexion, you will tend to develop pinkish stretch marks. Darker-skinned women tend to get stretch marks that are lighter than their skin tone.

The brutal truth about stretch marks is that there is IT CAN NOT BE AVOIDED.  What can be done is that they can be controlled through steady weight gain and keeping your skin constantly hydrated.

Many women find that using homemade stretch marks oil helps them alleviate stretch marks that are already there.

Here is a easy homemade Stretch mark oil that helps diminish existing stretch marks

Mix the following and store it in a bottle

½ cup extra virgin oil

1/4th cup aloe vera gel

liquid of 6 Vitamin E capsules

3-4 Vitamin A capsules.

(These capsules are easily available in any chemist shop).Blend all the ingredients and store the mixture in a bottle and put it in the refrigerator.

Apply daily on the stretch marks area .Don’t forget to shake the bottle well before you apply the lotion. Its a long process but it works.

Olive oil provides nutrients to the skin. It packs vitamins A, D and E along with other nutrients into the stretch marks.

Alternatively you could get into the habit of applying olive oil on stretch marks immediately after you take bath.

Marc Jacobs style Eye-con in no 7

7 x Eye shadows in midnight blue with iridescent shimmer, silver taupe sheen, matte off-white, metallic burgundy, metallic jade green, metallic golden brown, black with iridescent shimmer.

I have been obsessing over Marc Jacobs Eye shadow Palette Style Eye-Con no 7 (208 The Vamp). I bought this a while ago, actually a few months ago and I can’t seem to remember as to why I hadn’t used it until now.

The eye shadows are soft, Super Pigmented and are super bendable. The only drawback I found with this particular palette is that it does not come with a neutral brown that can be used to create a transition shade. Apart from this, this palette is super ease to use.

– It does not have any fall out

– It is super pigmented

– Well in my case it definitely made me feel rich 🙂

– It has only 1 matte eye shadow which is an off white matte.

– It does not come with a neutral eye shadow that can be used as a transition color

Honestly I couldn’t find any other fault with this palette.

For the price you spend for this palette, i think it’s worth it considering it makes you feel special (well in my case it does ). But if you are looking for a Return on Investment on this palette, then this is not for you.

I created a neutral everyday wearable looking using this palette.

Vibrant Hair depends on a balanced diet. It can take longer to notice changes  in your hair than in your skin.

Hair has two distinct structures – first, the follicle itself, which resides in the skin, and second, the shaft, which is what, is visible above the scalp.

Food's that boost hair growth - Samiksha Danish
Food’s that boost hair growth – Samiksha Danish

A balanced protein rich diet can help boost hair growth.

Here are some Foods that help hair grown healthy.

1. Salmon – Rich in Vitamin D and omega 3 fatty acids, that are both essential for hair growth. Omega-3s are also found in cell membranes in the skin of your scalp, and in the natural oils that keep your scalp and hair hydrated.

2. Walnuts – These are the only type of nut that have a significant amount of omega-3 fatty acids. They’re also rich in biotin and vitamin E, which helps protect your cells from DNA damage

3. Oysters – Oysters are rich in zinc, a lack of which can lead to hair loss (even in your eyelashes), as well as a dry, flaky scalp.

4. Eggs– A great source of protein, eggs are loaded with four key minerals: zinc, selenium, sulfur, and iron. Iron is especially important, because it helps cells carry oxygen to the hair follicles, and too little iron (anemia) is a major cause of hair loss, particularly in women.

5. Sweet Potatoes– Rich in beta-carotene or Vitamin A. Vitamin A is an antioxidant that promotes healthy scalp and encourages hair growth.

6. Spinach– Spinach is an important vegetable for hair growth because it is high in protein and vitamin A and vitamin C, which the body uses to produce oils in the scalp, which can help increase hair growth. Vitamin A and vitamin C deficiencies can increase hair loss or lead to brittle, thin hair that does not grow as quickly.

7. Blueberries– Rich in Vitamin C, It has being proved that vitamin C plays an important role faster hair growth. This vitamin for fast hair growth is an antioxidant that strengthens hair shaft and hair follicles and prevents hair breakage.

8. Soybeans and Soy Products – Soybeans and soy products are high in omega-3 fatty acids, which are more difficult to come by if you are on a vegetarian diet that does not allow fish like salmon and halibut… Omega 3 can help to grow hair by increasing hair follicle growth from the inside out while making hair fuller and thicker. Tofu, soy milk, steamed soy beans and soy supplements are sources of omega-3 fatty acids.

9. Lentils– Lentils are high in protein content and derive a significant amount of their caloric content from protein. Hair is made up of protein, so it is important to eat protein-rich foods like lentils or even beans for hair health, particularly if you are on a vegetarian or vegan diet that does not allow animal products like eggs, fish or lean meats for essential protein.

Beauty Myths vs Facts

Let’s be honest, we all have at some point tried all these different kinds of “Beauty Regime” in the hope that it would just magically work. But many a times we’ve been disappointed.

So I’ve decided to put down a list if Myth vs. Facts about makeup.

1.) To find your perfect foundation color, match it to your cheek, forehead, hand or wrist.

MYTH. Foundation should always be matched to your jawline as that is the place which will ideally match both your face and your chest.

2.) Use a concealer one shade lighter than your foundation to disguise under-eye darkness.

MYTH. It will only accentuate the under- eye darkness. Concealer should always match your skin color. It’s become a trend these days to wear a lighter concealer, but that on the assumption that you don’t have dark circles. If under-eye darkness is excessive, you’ll want to try a ‘color corrector’ to neutralize the discoloration

3.) Red lipstick is not for everyone.

MYTH.  False. Anyone can wear red lipstick, they just need to find the right red for them. Choosing the right color of red is very important. Choosing something very bright will make you look like a clown.

4.) It’s safe to share cosmetics and makeup

MYTH. By sharing brushes and other cosmetic tools, you risk swapping germs and bacteria with another person. Sharing eye makeup can result in a serious eye infection.

5.) Expensive cosmetics are better than inexpensive.

MYTH. The absolute truth is that there are good and bad products in all price categories. It’s all about the formulation, not the price. Spending less doesn’t hurt your skin, and spending more doesn’t help it. Again, it’s all about the formulation, not the price.

6.) Your skin adapts to products you use and eventually stop working.

MYTH. Skin doesn’t adapt to skin-care products any more than your body adapts to a healthy diet.

7.) Mature ladies cannot wear shimmery/frosty makeup

MYTH. Completely false! Shimmery makeup can be worn at any age. More important is how you wear it. You probably would want to wear a little less as you get older.

8.)  Always apply makeup in natural light

FACT. Natural light is less forgiving; therefore applying your makeup in it gives the most desirable results. If natural light is not available, use the strongest light possible.

9.) You should never ‘pump’ the mascara wand in and out of the tube

FACT. Doing so pushes air into the tube, hence drying out the mascara and increasing the risk of bacteria getting in. A more effective way of getting mascara onto the brush, is turning the wand inside the tube, and then gently pulling it out.

10.) Blackheads relate to cleanliness and can be scrubbed away.

MYTH. Blackheads may make skin look dirty, but they are unrelated to dirt.

11.) Waxing eyebrows causing wrinkles around the eyes.

MYTH. Natural aging, environmental damage, constant movement of eyes contributes to fine lines and wrinkles.

12.) For every gray hair plucked two will grow back in its place.

MYTH. Plucking gray hair will cause ONE new less pigmented strand of hair to grow in its place
